E-mail list delays still seem to be plotting to sabotage info about meetings for this project getting out :-(.

Apologies if you've seen most of this info before, but in addition to the two Tuesday (20th March) meetings, two Wednesday (21st March) meetings have now been scheduled, aimed primarily at Year 2s.

For just an hour a week you can help this project become a reality, so please register your interest as a volunteer by attending any one of the meetings (essentially, the same content will be covered at each meeting).  Year 2s we really need just a tiny fraction of your time each week, to help guide the Year 1s, then this project can be spun off into your year as well, so you also have the chance for this unique digital supplement to your yearbook.  Don't let neuro or barrier frighten you off, it really only takes just a fraction of your time for a few weeks.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Year 1s - to fit in with both PBL stream timetables, there will be two meetings for volunteers on Tue. 20th March (next week) from 11 to 11:30 a.m. and 13:00 to 13:30 in Room 219 of Mackie Bldg. If you are on campus on Wed. 21st March you are also welcome to attend either of the meetings aimed to slot in better with the Year 2s timetable (same time but on Wednesday).

Year 2s - Meetings aimed at Year 2 volunteers will take place in Mackie Bldg Rm 219 on Wednesday 21st March from 11 to 11:30 a.m. and 13:00 to 13:30.  If you are on campus on Tuesday feel free to come along to either of the meetings aimed to slot in more with the Year 1 timetable (same time but on Tuesday).

All other years - if you can help in any way with this project then you know where to email.  If the Year 1 project is successful there may be a chance for clinical years to also get some form of archiving - will keep you posted.

If you can't make it to any of these meetings, but would like to help or suggest a more suitable meeting time, just reply to this email address to register your interest.

Thanks, Pete Kaub

NEWSFLASH: Friday 16th March - World's Greatest Shave meets MedSoc Video Archive project PDF Print

MedSoc Media section will be filming the "Med Students Anonymous" group World's Greatest Shave at Manning this Friday (16th March) from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.

Come along to view the spectacle, see the MedSoc Media section in action doing the video archiving thing, even get yourself on camera and donate to the World's Greatest Shave for the Leukemia Foundation all in one go.

Media Officer, Pete Kaub, will be sacrificing his bushy, hippy beard (to those that know him - part of his persona) to this worthy cause.

Sponsorship of Pete or other members of the group can be done online at <www.worldsgreatestshave.com/profile.php?id=325594>.

Donation receptacles for all forms of coin or plastic Australian currency, plus sign-up forms for student video archive project volunteers will be available at the event.

Come along and support your peers in these worthy causes.

Cheers, Pete Kaub

Volunteers Needed NOW!

** Interested in seeing this project get off the ground then don't delay
e-mail now to MediaOfficer [at] medsoc.usyd.edu.au
with your details and suitable meeting times to volunteer to help in this project.**

A critical mass of volunteers is nowhere near being reached yet and this project is in serious danger of being cancelled.

Volunteer now, rope in some friends, cajole some PBL members and get the first medical student video archive in the world off the ground - it'll be a priceless addition to your Med student memories for years to come.

BACKGROUND:

Similar to the 7Up documentary concept, a MedSoc initiative starting in 2007 is a digital video archive of and for USyd Med students.

WHAT: Approx. 5 simple questions in 5 min. recorded in HD video (as honest, serious or irreverent as you like - this is not a grad. medicine entrance interview it's for YOU - to look back on in future years)

WHERE: Mackie Building (room to be advised)

WHEN: Semester 1 each year

WHO: volunteers to film, co-ordinate & collate, plus of course 1st years to answer the questions on video

For this project to be a success it requires a lot of input from as many students as possible.

We need volunteers now from Years 1 & 2 to to co-ordinate the project.  Other years are also welcome to help, but participation requires a presence at Camperdown for a few hours a week.

This is a big project so we need as many people as possible to share the load in any of the following roles: filming, collating, archiving, appointment scheduling, computer/IT stuff, writing legalese for documents.

N.B. Filming will start once a suitable number of volunteers is organised, however the project cannot go forward without a critical mass of volunteers and will be cancelled if not reached.

Volunteer today by e-mailing e-mail MediaOfficer [at] medsoc.usyd.edu.au

Keep a look out on this page and general e-mails for further updates (meeting and filming times).
