MedSoc Charitable Grants These grants were established in order to encourage and support members of MedSoc to pursue health-related charitable projects in the community and overseas (in other words, to make a difference!).
Eligibility: Applicants must be general members of the Sydney University Medical Society. Applications must be for “original” projects and will not go toward established charities or projects carried out as part of the Elective Term.
Selection Criteria: Grants shall be awarded based on the merit of the application, to projects that contribute to the health of the community in which the project is being implemented, and especially to activities where other sources of income are limited. Applicants must prove that they will be personally and actively involved in the implementation of the project.
How to Apply: Applicants must provide a letter to the Council outlining the reasons why they are requesting a charitable grant. Where possible, applicants may include details about the duration of the project, specific goals to be achieved, relevant parties or individuals taking part, a timeline of events and a list of other sources of funding received/requested. Applicants may be invited to address Council to read the letter and take any questions.
Value: $300 (Two grants available)
Grant Requirements: Grant funding from MedSoc must go towards the project and cannot be used to cover personal costs, travel expenses or tuition fees. MedSoc shall be formally recognised in any promotion of the project and its logo included on any printed or electronic material related to the project. Successful applicants will be asked to provide a report upon their return, which will be published in Innominate.
