AS A CURRENT MEDICAL STUDENT, THE TIME FOR ACTION HAS COME.
AMA (NSW) has been concerned by the lack of public action from the NSW Government to ensure you have an intern place upon graduation and a career pathway to becoming a specialist. Despite work behind the scenes, NSW lags behind other states on a policy or action to address what looks to be a serious shortfall in the clinical training capabilities of NSW public hospitals. We are currently following in the footsteps of the disastrous UK training system.
This is something that will affect you in your future regardless of whether you are in 1st or final year. It is clear the only way we will be able to get the Government to listen is with numbers and a loud message.
******* As such we are calling on all medical students to complete the online survey by 31 October 2008. All completed surveys will go into the draw with the winner receiving a Gift Voucher to Paintball Pete's for 4 people (valued at over $400). Expires December 2008
*******
A MASS MEETING OF STUDENTS AND JUNIOR DOCTORS WILL ALSO BE HELD ON 1 NOVEMBER 2008 AT A SYDNEY VENUE TO BE DETERMINED. THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THIS WILL BE DEPENDENT ON NUMBERS SO BRING FRIENDS AND FAMILY TO SUPPORT THE CAUSE.
